The beach was desolate today, though the weather was fairly good. There was a nice cool breeze with a clear sky overhead, no warnings of an oncoming storm. Not that Chase was complaining about the lack of people, the less the better in her opinion. It would mean less of a chance of her having to talk to someone she didn't know for whatever reason. In fact her only company right now was her German Shepherd, Knight. The dog was a good companion, the sandy brown fur colored with a black saddle back dog trotting gently beside her, tongue lolling out as the two silent beings walked through the sand. At first Chase had not wanted the dog, yelling at her brother to get the thing out of her apartment. She had not wanted another mouth to feed when trying to stay on her own two feet. However, the dog had gotten through her set barriers and into her life for good, it had just taken quite a bit of the dog's charming ways.
Though it was cool weather, Chase did not wear a jacket over her T-shirt. She did not get cold easily and instead welcomed the chilled air to touch her skin. Over her shoulder she carried her violin's old and worn out case. She had been hoping she would find a place where she would be alone only with Knight so she could play and it seemed she would have her chance. She often went to a park at night to play the violin, but since it was still only early evening there was bound to be people still at the park. While she may have liked it, Chase could also not play at her apartment. The landlady could be a real bitch at times and was always on Chase about the rent, no need to add another problem to the list. That wasn't to say Chase didn't like the old lady, even with her people problems. Chase rather enjoyed the usual bickering they shared when talking, it was a way to let out some stress and pass the time. Thinking about Chase was actually fond of the landlady which would be the real reason she didn't play the violin at the apartment. She didn't want to disturb anyone.
It was a nice change of pace to be at the beach anyhow. Surprising enough for her, Chase had not encountered any ghosts. Not such a bad thing considering that the ghosts tended to suffer if they were still bound to a place or a specific person. Knight barked, pulling Chase out of all of her thoughts. She watched as the young dog ran up to a small sandy hill that overlooked the ocean. Though it was a vast open area, Chase still felt comfortable enough to sit down at the edge of the small sand hill and place the case down beside her. Knight settled down beside her, which was surprising to Chase. Normally the dog would be awaiting the command that she could play in the water. Perhaps it would be too cold anyway.
Chase watched the sea for a while. The rolling waves as they licked and rolled into the sand and then back into the rest of its body. Seagulls called out to each other and flew through the air, performing tricks and just enjoying their ability to fly. Inspired, Chase got out the dark brown violin and got ready to play. The violin was quite old, it having been a present from her grandmother, but it was still able to produce a good melody. She started with a fast paced happy tune, trying to match the seagull's joy. Chase hardly played these kinds of songs unless it was for Max, but right now she felt content being alone at the sea with her dog. She continued the tune for a while until she began to slow, falling into her normal music sense of a slow paced song, which showed her emotions. Never did Chase cry, instead she played what she felt through her music. Right now she was not upset, so really the violin's tune only carried a sense of relaxation. She was not sure how long she had played, she just knew that she needed a break.
Sighing, Chase stopped playing. She turned to Knight with a small smile on her face. "Well how was that?" She was rewarded with a tail wag of affection from the young dog. Happy with that, she carefully placed the violin back into the case and fell into the sand, looking up into the sky content.
