Lily usually didn’t wander far from the centre of Prottetori territory but the beautiful summer’s day was all too enticing to resist going out for a walk in Central Park, she was invisible not confident to drop her veil.
There was the most gorgeous sweet fragrance of flowers in the air the ‘smell of summer’ she adored so much, she was so thankful that she wasn’t unfortunate to suffer from hay fever because not only would it be torture for her here but she wasn’t sure how she’d be able to stand not being able to freely smell this beautiful blend of the various flowers that lingered in the air…and to not be able to walk amongst them would be like depriving a bird from soaring through the air. She came to a stop in between two flower beds, cocking her head to the side, in the grass there was a lone daisy, pretty but belonging to neither of the flower beds. Any other person would just walk by the lone daisy, maybe crush it by accident but there it was the dainty delicate daisy sitting healthily by itself. She sat down behind it, and absent mindly stroked it, in some ways she thought she was like the daisy only she had found the Prottetori, and she had her powers- probably the only things that had prevented her from being killed…’prey’ long ago.
Seeing the lone daisy standing alone all by itself, as sad and corny as it would sound made her pluck up the courage to drop her invisible veil making sure there were no one around to see her appear out of nowhere, she did so.
There was no one around in the area of the park she was in, but she still felt utterly exposed and vulnerable, she didn’t know how people could stand it, being so exposed…she didn’t know how regular humans could do it, but then again they didn’t know of all the evil things out there not really anyway. But she wasn’t alone, no she had the daisy and the other flowers as her silent company, and for a moment the only sound she could hear was the peaceful sound of a bumble bee’s hum and a songbird’s melody.
She sighed and closed her eyes and as a light and gentle breeze caressed her cheek she smiled contently, there was no one about at all, it was so peaceful…maybe dropping her veil wasn’t too bad of a decision after all.
